Biography of Jeff 23 aka DJ Tal

Jeff cut his teeth at the first London inner city warehouse parties like Fantastic Ibiza, Labyrinth, 2000 AD, Genesis and Biology, before starting to organise his own raves such as ‘Destination Unknown’ and helping to promote the Camden Palace in ’89 and Dance Party (2000 AD) in 1990;
He began to DJ in 1991 and after seasons in Tenerife and Corfu, played regularly at Spiral Tribe events and other underground parties and clubs as well as performing on pirate radio stations in London, notably Touchdown FM. He swiftly followed Spiral Tribe into continental Europe after the police crackdown on illegal parties in the UK reached critical mass and the notorious Criminal Justice Act was passed into law. He was heavily involved in the organisation of the first large scale illegal parties and Teknivals on the European mainland as well as some of the biggest club events in France such as Elegal Frequencies, helping to break and foster the careers of many well known artists on today’s scene .l.b.e ,Crystal Distortion, Radio Bomb and 69db to name but a few.
Jeff has remained one of the pillars of the French techno scene (where he has lived since 1994). He has mixed professionally, blown minds, and set dancefloors ablaze from Scotland to Tel Aviv and all the countries in between. He became particularly renowned for his role within Spiral Tribe, who became a worldwide legend not only because of their cutting edge label, Network 23, but the unique spirit, renegade dynamics and sheer professionalism of their parties where his own unforgettable, timeless performances etched transcendence into countless souls. Jeff has released more than 40 records under the alias Teknikal Sinner on Network 23, Polygram and Spiral Tribe as well as his own labels Elegal Electronics, Maximum Reception, Buzzed up and Barbara Gould. He has co produced alongside Les Boucles Etranges, Radio Bomb 69db and Crystal Distortion, mixed CD’s such as Techno Tribe on Fairway Records - a classic compilation of the best Future Techno released in the early 90s as well as the epic mix on The Best of Network 23 package released by Expressillion records.
As French techno remained entrenched in nosebleed hardcore at the end of the 90’s, Jeff decided to return to his roots and began infiltrating a wider sphere of innovative styles like new skool breaks, tech house, fidget and electro into the French underground. Despite being English he was one of the first DJ’s based in France to play house music, breaks and tekno in all their forms.
Jeff currently travels the length and breadth of the continent ramming venues of all shapes and sizes week in and week out, and tearing up dancefloors with everything from the most hypnotic techno to the filthiest breaks. Embracing the potential of digital formats since autumn 2010, his reputation both as a selecta and an alchemist in the mix continues to precede him and his virtual bag is always stuffed full of the absolute cream of techno, tech house, tribal house, funky house, bassline fidget, breaks and tech funk
With mind boggling versatility, an instinctive feel for crowds, pure vibe generation, a nano precision tuned musical ear, and the intangible element that guarantees to take things next level whether it be a 200 person lockdown or a 10,000 person festival stage, the time, as ever is NOW.
